Happy to Be Friends

I finally had some time this weekend to craft at my leisure! It's so helpful to go to late-night crops to have the time and space to get to work. Here is a card I created using the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, the "have a heart" theme at Simon Says Stamp, and the photo inspiration over at Color Throwdown. I am using our new Heartstrings paper along with a new stamp set, Happy to Be Friends, from the Seasonal Expressions 1 mini catalogue. All items are only available until March 31!
All supplies are Close To My Heart:
Paper - Heartstrings; Ink - Crystal Blue, Lagoon, Pixie, Cranberry, Desert Sand; Whisper;
Stamps - Happy to Be Friends; Embellishments - Cashmere sparkle twine.

Today at Heart2Heart we have a fun birthday colour challenge for you! Your birth month will determine the colour you must feature on your project. This colour must be the main colour, but you can add any other colours you like. Here's the list:

January - Glacier
February - Pixie
March - Thistle
April - Slate
May - Topiary
June - Lagoon
July - Pacifica
August - Honey
September - Cranberry
October - Sunset
November - Cocoa
December - Ponderosa Pine

My birthday just happens to be in January - YAY! - and I was very happy to get to use Glacier (one of my favourite colours) for this card:

All supplies are Close To My Heart:
Ink - Glacier; Paper - White Daisy, Silver Glitter, Snowhaven patterned papers;
Stamps - Belated Birthday. Card cut from the Artfully Sent Cricut cartridge.

Come play along with this fun challenge at Heart2Heart!

I am pleased to say I will be designing for another term at Heart2Heart! To kick off the new year we have a brand new challenge for you: something old, something new - use something old in a new way or paired with something new. For this challenge I was so excited to use one of my Christmas presents...the WR Memory Keepers Gift Bag Punch Board! This tool is super easy to use and makes the cutest bags. I was so excited to make a matching card and tag. I decided my something "old" would be to use the Artiste Cricut cartridge and a coordinating stamp set on the card. I also found some Heavenly Blue ribbon from years ago to use.
This bag happily fits a small mickey of Grey Goose vodka (my husband's favourite!).

All supplies are Close To My Heart:
Paper - Snowhaven; Cardstock - Glacier, White Daisy, Silver Glitter; Ink - Glacier.

Hope to see you in the gallery over at Heart2Heart this month!

Happy 30th Birthday, Chris!

My husband is turning 30 this month, so I decided to throw him a surprise party this weekend! The party was a casino theme.

As guests entered, they signed their name under a number on the roulette table I created! Later on in the night we drew numbers for prizes.
All supplies are Close To My Heart (except green background paper from the Dollar Store)
Stamps - Alphabets, Urban Alphabet, Advent Calendar Workshop; Cardstock - Cranberry, Black; White embossing powder.
Shapes cut from the Art Philsophy Cricut cartridge.

I went to the dollar store and got TONS of decorations - yay! We have these giant martini glasses that we bought for our candy bar at our wedding and I love to put different things in them for different occasions. Here I put in dice, poker chips, and a royal flush of cards.
We had a ton of food, too. I made a bunch of different appetizers, but had lots of help from family and friends!

I have had big get togethers a few times and my go-to for dinner seems to be pulled pork!

Pulled Pork in the Crock Pot
Pork Tenderloin
1 can root beer
1 bottle Bull's Eye BBQ sauce (or your favourite brand)

Set pork tenderloin in a crock pot and cover with root beer. Set on low for 8-10 hours. For the last hour drain the root beer, shred the pork with a fork, add BBQ sauce and mix. Allow shredded pork to remain in crock pot for last hour. Serve with buns and enjoy!

For dessert my sister-in-law made these cute cupcakes.
