Just Because

This is a time for numerous thank-you cards to be given out and I always seem to leave mine to the last minute. This year I thought I would make a stock pile of the same style. It's funny how making an assembly line to make a simple style can end up being quicker than making one intricate card! I came across this inspiration from Vicki Wizniuk and couldn't wait to make my own clean and simple version.

It was fun to play around with the flowers and colours. I made a few different variations, but these ones are my favourites.
Paper - White Daisy; Ink - Sapphire, Lagoon, Canary, Sweet Leaf, Thistle, Glacier, Memento Tuxedo Black;
Stamps - Happy To Be Friends; Embellishments - Pearls, Sparkles.

June CTMH Promos

There are lots of exciting sales going on at Close To My Heart and I would like to share them with you! To start, each Friday-Monday we are having flash sales this month. There are lots of different bundles to check out at awesome discounts! Check out Jeanette Lynton's blog, Make It From Your Heart for beautiful inspiration projects each week showcasing many of the items in our flash sales. I was inspired, myself, by one of her posts and set out to make some sympathy cards to have on hand.
I also needed to make a couple of grad cards and chose to do so using our handy Artbooking Cricut cartridge - unfortunately all of our current Cricut cartridges will be retiring when the new catalogue goes live in August!

Father's Day Wishes

Here is a card I put together tonight for Father's Day. I used the layout from Freshly Made Sketches and the colours from the Verve Inspiration Challenge.

Paper - Regatta paper collection; White Daisy cardstock (CTMH); Stamps - Strong Anchor (Verve);
Dies - Stitched Circles (SSS); Nautical Die Set (Verve); Ink - Poppy, Slate, Whisper, Cocoa (CTMH);
Twine - Glacier (CTMH).

At this busy time of the year I'm glad I took some time to get up and make a nice breakfast this morning. I saw this on a menu awhile ago and thought I would love to make it myself!

Banana Bread

2 cups Flour
1/2 cup Sugar
3 tsp. Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 1/2 cups Chocolate Chips
1 Egg
1/4 cup Milk
1 tsp. Vanilla
1/4 cup Oil
2-3 ripe mashed Bananas

Heat oven to 350F.

Sift together dry ingredients. Stir in chocolate chips. In a separate bowl combine wet ingredients and beat for 30 seconds. Combine dry and wet ingredients and lightly mix. Pour into a greased bread pan and bake for 65-70 minutes. Allow time to cool before slicing.

French Toast

2 slices of Banana Bread
1 tsp. Butter
1 Egg
Maple Syrup

Melt butter in a medium frypan on the stove. Beat an egg in a bowl with a fork. Dip banana bread slices into the egg and set in hot pan. Lightly brown each side of the bread. Serve with maple syrup to taste!

The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence.
When mindfulness embraces those we love, they will
bloom like flowers."
- Thich Nhat Hanh -

My focus for this month is on Friendship. June is a traditionally busy time in my professional life as we wrap up the school year. I chose to focus on friendship because it is often ignored during all of this chaos. My goals are:

- Be present
- Quality time outside
- Be generous
- Don't gossip
- Remember & Show up

*All supplies are Close To My Heart - Calypso paper collection, Le Pen.
